Every preschool day is different but this is what our preschool day looks like;
Children are greeted at the door by a member of staff and they can find their picture from the registration bench which they then attach to their key-person board.
The children are then welcomed into the preschool room where they can find their name tag in their key person basket, the child can then choose their own coloured peg and hang up their belongings such as bag, coats, book bag etc.
If children start preschool at 8:15 then these children are offered breakfast
At roughly 9am, after all the children have arrived, we ring some bells and gather on the carpet for a little bit of circle time. During this time, we can talk about the day ahead and introduce the core text/story. We also sing our hello song - "hello all the boys, hello all the girls, hello everyone, its nice to see you here, hello (child's name)" during the song when we say each child's name and we encourage the children to sign (BSL) their first name initial. Children can then engage in free flow play inside or outside.
Children then have access to free flow snack from 10am, an adult will always be sat at the snack table, and they will encourage children to self-serve their own snack.
At 11:45 we put our tidy up song on, and the children are encouraged to help put their toys away, we then gather again on the carpet and read our core text that was introduced in the morning. Some friends then join us for our afternoon session.
At 12 we enjoy our lunch, children are encouraged to self-serve their own food such as vegetables, custard, and more. This is a great time for adults to interact with the children on a smaller basis and enjoy conversation. We encourage children to wash up their own dessert bowls and cups, children are then able to play again.
At 12:45 we ring the bells again and sing our hello song to welcome our friends who joined us for our afternoon session. We also read our core poem together. Before enjoying free flow play.
At 2:45 we put the tidy up song on and encourage the children to help tidy up their toys. we then gather on the carpet and sing the goodbye song (the same as our hello song), we then sing our very own BeBright goodbye song; "if you've had fun at BeBright clap your hands, if you've had fun at BeBright clap your hands, if you've had fun at BeBright and you've gave it all your might, if you've had fun at BeBright clap your hands. if your ready to say goodbye, wave your hands, if your ready to say goodbye, wave your hands, if your ready to say goodbye, wave your hands up in the sky, if your ready to say goodbye, wave your hands".
Throughout the week we have various activities and other professionals coming in to lead sessions that the children thoroughly enjoy such as Kixx, Miss Lisa dance, Chloe White art, Jo Jingles, outdoor learning on Wednesdays, fresh school, care home visits.
Every day is different, and that’s what makes preschool so special that every day is not the same and there’s always some amazing new awe and wonder to explore.*
